The bald eagle became the national emblem of the United States in The population has made a remarkable comeback, and eagle watching is a popular pastime for nature lovers across the country. Visitors making the trek to EEC, the largest festival of its kind in the state, can expect many opportunities to see eagles in their natural habitat. Programs featuring the American Bald Eagle and other birds of prey make the festival fly by. Activities are scheduled throughout the weekend including eagle-watching lake tours, guided bird walks, falconry demonstrations and more.
There will be leprechauns, floats, marching bands, Irish Wolfhounds, green fireworks, and Irish Elvis impersonators, etc. Remember to wear green. The parade has been recognized worldwide with numerous international awards.
The festival, honoring Scottish heritage and traditions, features a vast array of events and exhibits, pipe bandst competition, food vendors offering traditional Scottish dishes, Celtic music, sheepdog demonstrations, and, of course, bagpipes.
This family festival salutes Ozark culture with folk, mountain and bluegrass music. The annual spring celebration also features handmade crafts, frontier life demonstrations, a parade, dancing on the courthouse square and a window decorating contest.
The event features food and merchandise vendors, a motorcycle parade, a poker run, field events, Ms. Wild Hog contest, and music, music, music! While they waited, they refreshed themselves at the local tavern there, to the dismay of the folks living nearby, who said: The tavern is long gone, but the legend and fun live on at the 32nd Annual Toad Suck Daze, May in downtown Conway. Proceeds support higher education in Faulkner County.
This year, the event celebrates 25 years. Visitors can pay for tickets to sample the different rib-eye steaks. The event also includes a parade and the Sidewalk Art Show which is celebrating 63 years! Billed as the largest ethnic festival in the state, it features a huge array of homemade items from cooks from various culinary traditions, such as Greek, Armenian, Georgian, Romanian, Russian, Indian, Middle Eastern, English and American. Both savory and sweet dishes are offered.
Overattended in The Riverfest Recycles program collected 17 tons of recyclable materials. The program encourages festival-goers to keep recyclable plastic bottles and aluminum cans out of landfills by collecting them from the festival grounds and exchanging them for fun items at the Riverfest Recycles centers. We were overwhelmed and overjoyed with your enthusiasm of the sport of hot air ballooning! In addition, this event will aid in community involvement, as we are once again, inviting local businesses and nonprofit charitable organizations to participate so that they may showcase their products and raise awareness and funds for their special services and programs.
Friendly, helpful owner is only a phone call away. Fort Worth Texas Love this house! We love the house, location, and view. The house is very comfortable and very well stocked with extras left in the cabinets.
It feels like you are staying in some ones home. It's nice to know that there is some spices, sugar, oil, etc Very close to Petit Jean State Park, a great park to go hiking in. Although with the view, satellite tv, dvds, and wifi you really never need to leave. There is only one small country store close so come prepared. The State park has a restaurant, if you don't feel like cooking. Our traveling friends, that live in Amsterdam Holland said the house was worth a million bucks!
One of the cleanest, best stocked, comfortable, peaceful places I have ever stayed!! The screened in back porch was so inviting and the view was beautiful, a perfect place to have coffee in the mornings and to sit and visit with family in the afternoon into the night.
We "My 89 yr. The yard, flowers and hummingbirds where an added attraction. I would recommend the Allens' Cabin to all my friends and family. Thank you for the positive encouragement. We hope that everyone will have their expectations exceeded! So glad you all could enjoy the screened in porch in back. We hope to see you next year. Well stocked, beautiful views, wildlife, close to hiking trails, etc. We hiked Seven Hollows Trail which took us about 2 hours.
The owners were kind enough to leave my daughter some eggs to hunt which was the perfect end to the trip. The Petit Jean Memorial is not to be missed--beautiful views. We hope to return to hike more trails especially to see the falls.
We viewed from the overlook but hope to get down there next time. Thanks for sharing your home! We have the best guests ever! There is so much to do on Petit Jean. We are glad you enjoyed the cabin, hiking, as well as horseback riding, and the Red Barn Market. We try to make each visit exactly what our guest are craving! The location feels remote and has an outstanding scenic view. The cabin itself was quite comfortable with many modern conveniences while still maintaining a rustic cabin feel.
Additionally, the owners were very helpful and easy to work with. I will definitely be back for another visit to the Allens' Cabin! We found it to be everything it is described to be and more. It is convenient to Petit Jean State Park, yet private. As a group of women, we felt very safe there.
The view was wonderful, the interior calm and inviting. The new gas burning log stove was a special treat. Truly all you will need is your food. Everything else is provided. There is an extra dose of charm. We plan on returning for Troop reunions. We were pleased to have the cabin chosen as the location for the Ambassador Girl Scout Troop. We were able to visit with the leader prior to arrival to ensure the cabin had everything they fulfill their plans.
The views were spectacular and the cabin was beautiful! We enjoyed several Petit Jean State Park trails and the museums. The kitchen was stocked with just what we needed to cook our own meals. It was very relaxing. Thank you Ray and Kathy! Five friends gathered at the cabin for a girls weekend and it was wonderful. The Allen's pay attention to detail and comfort. The beds were very comfortable. The linen's were top quality. We had mentioned we were looking to have a massage therapist come to the cabin and they even knew someone to recommend, which was awesome!
We didn't want to leave at the end of our stay. Thank you so much for the positive review. We enjoy trying to exceed expectations. We have lived in the area for over 30 years, so we are often able to help our guests find what they are hoping for. Petit Jean is convenient whether traveling from North Carolina or south Texas. The living area itself is a brilliant layout of private space but ideal for group visiting or eating as well.
Multiple porch-decks cause a sensation that you are truly on top of the world! Even on a cozy, rainy day, the twilight show was majestic. A huge rainbow over the rising mist from the river gave the whole valley a surreal effect. Maybe that's the best summary for the whole weekend We are so glad you and your family had the opportunity to stay at our cabin last month. I am so glad you all were able to view some of the spectacular displays that happen over the river valley every now and then.
You have a wonderful family! The cabin is homey and comfortable, with a beautiful view and the perfect layout for preparing meals together, sitting down to eat, and enjoying games and conversation.
We even got to see a spectacular rainbow over the valley, visible from end to end! We so much enjoy sharing it and we're very thankful that you all enjoyed it as much as you did. The cabin was absolutely perfect! Unbelievably clean, comfortable and so inviting. A great way to welcome in We hope to return soon. We are so glad that you all had a good time! You all are great guests! This provided an absolutely beautiful view of the river and valley below.
We slept 4 comfortably but it could accommodate 8 easily. It was easy to find because of the accurate directions from the Allen's. The cabin is clean and comfortable and we found everything like the Allen's outlined. There are 3 really good places to eat but the kitchen is well equipped for preparing meals. The beds are very comfortable. We had a blast. Thank you Allen's for sharing your cabin with us.
The owners were extremely helpful and attentive to details like child proofing before we arrived--thanks!!! The cabin is in such a beautiful setting and Petit Jean State Park is my favorite hiking place for young children. An absolutely blessed time in a beautiful setting.
There were many thoughtful amenities provided by the Allens. From the welcome written on the chalkboard, the abundance of sheets and towels, the detergents provided for the washer and dishwasher, games, books, and movies all worked together to make our stay enjoyable. My personal favorite was the jar of cherries we found in the refrigerator - cherry Dr Peppers every night!! I'm quite sure the Allens have replaced that jar since we ate most of them.
My goal over the next few years is to experience Allens Cabin in each of the four seasons. If you are looking for a peaceful vacation, I would highly recommend Allen's Cabin.
Thanks for the nice comments! Our goal is for all our guests to want to come back. We try to listen to our guests advice, so we will definitely replace those cherries for all to enjoy! As a challenge next time, please feel free to tie knots in the cherry stems with your tongue.
Kathy has everything you need. I love the back porches, the view is wonderful. Cannot wait until we go back in June with my grand kids. The view is breathtaking. The cabin is comfortable and clean with plenty of sleeping areas. The kitchen is small but perfect for a getaway. Everything you need is already there. Petit Jean State Park is nearby with plenty of hiking trails and scenic overlooks. We haven't taken a vacation in around four years, this was perfect. The view is amazing!
Last night we watched the field burning across the river and that morning we had watched a barge go by. I love all the hummingbirds and how close they came. You have put so much thought into everything! We loved our stay here. It is so peaceful here, we hope to come again soon! My son is ready to move in; he thought the decks were awesome and we enjoyed playing I spy from both of them. Thanks again for an amazing weekend!
We liked everything about it. The place was perfect! Lots of room for everyone; it was well-appointed and had everything we needed to cook and lounge and the views were fantastic. If you want to enjoy the mountain without all people at the State Park, this place is for you! Lots of towels and linens plus wifi and a television set up in the side room. Perfect for those who don't want to be bothered by television.
Or it is there for those that do. Beds are comfy as well. Close if you need them but they won't bug you unless you do. We want to make this an annual hiking tradition! This cabin has such a warm and cozy feeling. It is very clean and well stocked with anything you might need for your vacation. You can tell that a lot of thought was put in to making us feel right at home. The views are amazing, and Petit Jean State Park has several beautiful hiking trails.
We had so much fun spending quality family time in this adorable cabin. We had plenty of room for sleeping comfortably and it was easy to share the 2 bathrooms. The weather was perfect so we were able to enjoy the porches day and night. I had been to the cabin several time with my husband and have always enjoyed it. It was fun to hear the exclamations of delight as my friends discovered all the cabin has to offer. We found plenty of bed linens and towels and everything was immaculately clean.
Two thumbs way up for the entire experience! Thank you for your kind words. We like to hear that people are satisfied. It is our goal to make each stay even better than the previous one. I had a great time with my friends. Everything was just perfect.
I felt I am in my own home. Cabin is so clean and homey. I loved the view of fields and river from porches. The location was perfect and the view was magnificent. The cabin itself was spotless, roomy and comfortable. When you go there make sure to go the nearby farm house and enjoy the terroir- authentic "Taste of the Mountain". Their Honey and cheese is fantastic. Kathy and Ray are great hosts and informative of local areas to visit and drives. As a flight attendant for 30 years I have seen my share of the world and I would recomend it to everyone.
We had a bedroom, grandkids had their room, and their parents stayed downstairs. It was very comfortable. Our youngest granddaughter loved the little clawfoot tub in the downstairs bathroom. Other grandkids enjoyed the games. The adults enjoyed cooking out and catching up in the living areas. All of us were in awe of the setting and scenery. We also went on several hikes in Petite Jean Park. Hope to visit again in Fall to see the colorful leaves. This stay our second was even better than last year.
The weather was great and we love looking at the river valley on the back porch. All the comforts of home and we can tell more work has been put into the cabin by making improvements to the porch and planting more flowers and shrubs in their garden. Next year we are hoping to see a barge or two come down the river.
Hope to come back next year to this wonderful cabin!2019 Tamil Calendar in Tamil
It was perfect for our 7 family members spanning 3 generations when we came for 4 days during Spring Break. Kathy was there to welcome us, the house was spotless, well stocked with board games, DVDs, information about the area and the kitchen had. The views are amazing, the peace and quiet was wonderful and Petit Jean state park was only 5 minutes drive away.
This is the perfect place if you want a simple, airy, peaceful place to base yourself. I cannot recommend it enough. I enjoyed meeting your charming family! We are glad you found the Allens' Cabin to your liking. We try implement good ideas from our past renters to continue improving what we have to offer. It is VERY well maintained and was spotless when we arrived. I'm very picky about cleanliness for my kids and this cabin more than passed inspection.
The kitchen had everything we needed, there was a nice selection of movies, and a top of the line television -- but we didn't need any of that with the amazing views out the windows, porches and balcony. My daughters especially loved the garden with the 2 swings hung from tree branches. They played and ran and squealed so much it is a good thing there are no close neighbors to hear!
I hope we get a chance to go back soon! It is a pleasure to share this magical place with you. The perennial garden was established when the cabin was first built. We are enjoying the process of reclaiming it. We are including native flowering food plants for the many butterfies and birds in the area.
The hooks for the swings were still there, we just had to get new rope and make the seats. The wireless capability was an added plus. I enjoyed the view of the Arkansas river from the covered porches.
Everything a girl could want was here. I plan to return again in the near future. Rustic looking outside, not at all rustic inside internet, flat screen, dishwasher Best place to stay on the entire mountain. Will be back again soon!!! We were seeking privacy, peace, serenity Vista is indescribably beautiful. The cabin is so nice you almost don't want to leave Would recommend this cabin for adult retreat Must say that the cabin sits on a bluff Would use caution with smaller children.
But this is a perfect place to withdraw from society and re-center and enjoying the blessings of God's creation! This is definitely the place. Could be for a relaxing, quiet time or a full family event. The cabin has good-sized rooms and bathrooms.
The decks out back are great with fabulous view. Love the screened-in porch. This is a very comfortable cabin at a reasonable price. When looking for a place to stay and reviewing possibilities the description of a place and pictures are helpful.

The description and pictures were accurate and reflected the appearance. Actually the pictures did not do it justice. It was well maintained and clean. What a great spot overlooking the Arkansas River and the farmland with cattle. We spent a good part of our time sitting out on the deck enjoying the view.
We saw a couple of barges go down the river and a rain cloud came in around the mountain and that was interesting to see. The accomdations were great. All we had to do was bring some food. The guys enjoyed the television and grilling a couple of meals. We gals enjoyed the closeness to the Petit Jean Park and walking on some of the trails.
What a great time!
It was our second visit and we have a third already booked. Even though it was early August and extremely hot, we were able to catch nice breezes on the screened porch. It was the first time in several weeks that we could enjoy being outside since this summer has been dreadfully hot. We recommend Allen's to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and roomy place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet.
Plus, they've stocked the cabin with family friendly books, magazines, DVD's and games so there is something for everyone. There's even a pair of binoculars available to observe any wildlife that may come into view. It was very clean and accommodating. We felt at home right away. It has old time charm but yet has the modern conveniences we have all come to enjoy.
Both bedrooms are upstairs so if you have knee problems, that might be inconvenient for someone. The farmland view is beautiful just like the others have said.
Petit Jean State Park
We enjoyed the cabin immensely which provided the rest and relaxation that my husband and I both needed. The area is beautiful and is a peaceful and wonderful place to be when you are looking to be away from the busyness of life. We are leaving feeling refreshed and glad to have shared this part of God's creation. This cabin has all the comforts of home - two full baths, Internet, cable although with all the natural attractions, watching tv was the last thing on my mind and a kitchen area stocked with everything needed for cooking except food - bring your own.
The things this cabin has that home does not offer is two great decks in which to sit and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Arkansas River in the valley below, the gentle mooing of the livestock in the valley, the sights and sounds of birds and squirrels, and fresh country air.
The evening view is great too, seeing the lights from the farms and towns below and the stars above. The upstairs bath is large and family friendly.
There is a spot in or around this cabin for everyone My only suggestion to anyone staying here We stayed for Father's Day weekend, and it was so nice that we really didn't ever want to leave to go to Petit Jean State Park which we do recommend highly.
We have stayed at other VRBO properties in various states, and lots of times we have either not had internet or had poor cell phone reception or the house was old and ill equipped or there just wasn't anything to do in the area. Well, this one had everything we could ask for: Cable too, but we didn't even try that since the movie collection was just our style. But it's the view that really got us. We hadn't really seen a view like this anywhere else, except from an airplane.
You can see for 20 miles, and you will see the TOPS of the birds as they fly by. I would love to see a rain or snow storm from here! The back porches are incredible; one of us were always on them. While on this trip, my son Robert found his th geocache at the state park.
Petit Jean Fall Show & Swap Meet -Morrilton, AR
It also had overlooks that you drive right up too. Although the overlooks had breathtaking views, we felt that the view from our cabin was just as good if not better!
Also this cabin is very easily reached from the highway. I can't think of one reason that you will not love this place as much as we did. It worked very well for our family of four, but it would be a very fun place for a girls weekend as well.
Thanks so much for a very fun and relaxing weekend that we will remember for a long, long time.

We had a wonderful weekend here. The cabin was just as described on VRBO and more. We really needed nothing else but our food. This cabin has a great view and we enjoyed looking out over the mountains and farms below. We also liked all the extra touches provided to make this cabin have a homey feel. Only wish we could have stayed longer! Hope to be back soon. Thank You Allen's for sharing this great cabin with us. Jun 15, 2. This year celebrated our fifth year and we decided to take them out of state for the first time, to beautiful Arkansas.
From the moment we drove through the gate, we began ooohing and aaahing over everything about the house and the surrounding property. Kathy and Ray are exceptional people Kathy took the time to plan a "scavenger hunt" for the girls that led to a "secret room" in the house Too sweet and so kind!! Petit Jean State Park is fabulous Our girls were really proud of us, I think!! We had so much fun cooking dinner together at night in the "old timey" looking but modern kitchen, playing lots of games at the dining room table, watching old classic movies in the "media room", and just sitting on the porch swings, watching for fireflies, listening to the cattle across the river or staring at the stars.
I can't begin to sing the praises of this place highly enough I feel like we have made two new life-long friends! We WILL be back at some point in the future!!
Jun 13, 2. The view is magnificent. We loved to sit on the back porch that if fully screened in and rock or swing.
It is a beautiful, welcoming, clean and homey place. We all needed the rest and relaxation. When you look out at night you feel you can almost touch the beautiful stars. The sunrises are gorgeous. The Allen's were really helpful in letting us know where events and places to go were.
I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone.
